Additional information

The water solubility of mesterolone at 20°C was determined using the column elution method, which is based on the elution of the test substance with water from a micro column which is filled with an inert support material previously charged with the test substance. The water is continuously circulated through the column until saturation equilibrium is reached as indicated by a practically constant concentration of mesterolone. The concentration was monitored by HPLC analysis in samples drawn during the course of equilibration time.

Averaging the results from two series of experiments with different flow rates gives a water solubility of mesterolone at 20°C with 95% confidence intervals of:

S20= 3.0 mg/mL ± 0.2 mg/mL

Mesterolone can be considered as insoluble in water in accordance with the descriptive term of DAB 19 and USP 23.

The pH value of the saturated water solutions was determined to be 6.7.
