Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
boiling point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 103 (Boiling Point/Boiling Range)
GLP compliance:
yes
Type of method:
differential scanning calorimetry
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Name CARMINE LAKE
Batch no. HPFC16006A
Composition Hydrated aluminium chelate of carminic acid (7-beta-D-glucopyranosyl- 3,5,6,8-tetrahydroxy-1-methyl-9,10-dioxo-anthracene-2-carboxylic acid)
CAS No. 1390-65-4
Purity 55% Carmine
Expiry date 12. Apr. 2020
Storage Room Temperature (20 ± 5 °C); Keep away from light
Key result
Decomposition:
yes
Decomp. temp.:
> 29.76 - < 153.19 °C
Conclusions:
The determination of the melting and boiling point of CARMINE LAKE was performed via DSC (differential scanning calorimetry).
Based on the observations of the pre-test, the endotherm event could be indicated as de-hydration under decomposition, evaluated with onset function. Event marker function was used to evaluate the beginning and ending of the event.
Therefore no melting and no boiling point could be determined under these circumstanc-es as the test substance decomposed.

Description of key information

No boiling point could be determined under these circumstances as the test substance decomposed
