No studies on calcium silicate (CS) have been located.
The structure-analogous substances, synthetic amorphous sodium aluminum silicates (NAS), failed to produce irritation of rabbits´ skin. Ocular effects were variable in several studies: Initial conjunctival irritation was observed following instillation of NAS powder into rabbits´ eyes without involvement of the cornea and iris (JM Huber 1978). More pronounced effects were observed in another study (PPG 1975): The slight to moderate eye reactions were reversible within 3, 7 or 14 days.
It can be concluded that based on current numerical standards of assessment (EU, GHS), no classification is required.
Irritation to the respiratory sytem is related to deposition of particles, but is no particular inherent property of silica / silicates.

Justification for classification or non-classification
For synthetic amorphous calcium silicate as structure-analogous substance to NAS no classification for skin an eye irritation is required.
