Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One GLP Guideline Study according to OECD 301B is available investigating the ready biodegradability of 1,3-butylene diacetate (CAS 1117-31-3) (Roulstone, 2012). Non-adapted activated sludge from a domestic sewage treatment plant was used as inoculum. The test substance, which was applied at a concentration of 18.1 mg/L was degraded to an extent of 82% (CO2 evolution) after 28 d fulfilling the 10 day window. Since the substance reached the pass level for OECD 301B (biodegradation is > 60% within 10-day window) 1,3-butylene diacetate is stated to be readily biodegradable according to the OECD criteria.
