A dermal sensitisation study was performed with triallyl isocyanurate according to OECD guideline 406 (Buehler test) (99-0015 -DGT). 20 Dunkin Hartley guinea pigs were induced three-times with an epicutaneous occlusive application of 100% test substance onto the left flank for 6 h. 10 control guinea pigs were treated in the same way with paraffin oil. 14 days after the last induction exposure, epicutaneous challenge was conducted with 100% triallyl isocyanurate on the right flank under occlusive conditions for 6 hours, where as the left flank was treated with paraffin oil. No dermal sensitisation reactions were seen 24 h and 48 h after challenge on the test substance treated sites (right flanks). In one female animal of the test substance group, the paraffin oil treated left flank had a discrete or patchy erythema only at observation time 24 hours after application. In the other animals the paraffin oil treated sites revealed no findings. No systemic toxic effects were observed and the general condition and body weight gain of animals were not affected.
In conclusion, triallyl isocyanurate has no sensitising properties in the Buehler test on the skin of guinea pigs.
