Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

If inhaled:

Remove from exposure.

If not breathing, give artificial respiration.

If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

Seek medical advice.

In case of skin contact:

Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water while removing all contaminated clothes and shoes.

Seek medical advice immediately.

In case of eye contact:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes.

Remove contact lenses. Get immediate medical attention. Continue rinsing eyes during transport to hospital.

If swallowed:

Do NOT induce vomiting.

Rinse mouth with water.

Seek medical advice immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

1) Extinguishing media

- Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), dry powder, foam

- Unsuitable extinguishing media: Water

2) Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

- Specific hazards during firefighting: Flash back possible over considerable distance. May form explosive mixtures in air.

- Incomplete combustion may produce: Carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide

3) Advice for firefighters

- Special protective equipment for firefighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

- Further information: If possible, containers should be moved to safe place. The pressure in sealed containers can increase under the influence of heat. Observe the risk of explosion.

- Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.

Accidental release measures

- Personal precautions:

Do not breathe vapours.

Ensure adequate ventilation.

Avoid all contact with the product.

- Protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Use personal protective equipment.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.

Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.

Remove all sources of ignition.

Pay attention to flashback.

- Environmental precautions:

Attempt to stop leakage without personal risk.

Prevent further leakage if safe to do so.

Prevent product from entering environment and drains.

- Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Cover with dry sodium carbonate.

Collect spillage.

Nonsparking tools should be used.

Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

Handling and storage

1. Precautions for safe handling:

- Advice on safe handling:

The following actions are recommended: Closed systems for handling, process and storage.

To be handled by trained personnel only.

Avoid and prevent all spillage, contact and exposure.

 Ensure adequate ventilation.

Keep container closed when not in use.

- Advice on protection against fire and explosion:

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

 All equipment shall be grounded.

Keep product and empty container away from heat and sources of ignition.

Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low areas.

2. Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

- Requirements for storage areas and containers:

 Keep container tightly closed.

Keep in a cool, well-ventilated place.

- Further information on storage conditions:

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Provide adequate precautions, such as electrical grounding and bonding, or inert atmospheres.

- Advice on common storage: see section "Stability and reactivity"

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures:

Provide adequate ventilation.

Use personal protective equipment.

Ensure that eye flushing systems and safety showers are located close to the working place.

Personal protective equipment

- Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation: Respirator with A2 or ABEK filter or self-contained breathing apparatus.

- Hand protection:

 Wear suitable gloves:

 * Nitrile rubber, break through time: > 240 min

 * Viton (R), break through time: > 480 min

Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact). The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.

- Eye protection: Safety goggles (EN 166)

- Skin and body protection:

If splashes are likely to occur:

 * Protective suit

 * Skin should be washed after contact.

- Hygiene measures:

Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

 Wash contaminated clothing before re-use.

- Protective measures:

The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

Environmental exposure controls

General advice:

Attempt to stop leakage without personal risk.

Prevent product from entering environment and drains.

Stability and reactivity

1. Reactivity

: No dangerous reaction known under conditions of normal use.

2. Chemical stability:

Stable under recommended storage conditions.

3. Possibility of hazardous reactions

: Hazardous reactions: Do not mix with acids. Hazardous polymerisation may occur.

4. Conditions to avoid

: Heat, flames and sparks. Exposure to sunlight.

5. Incompatible materials

: Materials to avoid: Strong oxidizing agents

6. Hazardous decomposition products: No decomposition if stored and applied as directed.

Under fire conditions: Carbon monoxide (CO); carbon dioxide (CO2).
