First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Get immediate medical attention if you feel unwell.

Skin: Wash with soap and copious amount of water. Get medical attention, if irritation persists.

Eye: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Get medical attention, if irritation persists.

Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water. Get medical attention.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable: Water spray, carbon dioxide, dry chemical powder and dry sand.

Unsuitable: None.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

May form toxic fumes of CO, CO2 and NO2. Dust/air mixtures may ignite or explode.

Advice for firefighters

Remove containers from fire or cool them with water spray. Firefighters should wear an approved self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing.

Special protective device to protect the fire fighters

Wear full fire-fighting turn-out gear (full bunker gear) and respiratory protection (self-contained breathing apparatus).

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Avoid raising dust. Avoid breathing the substance. Use respiratory protection and rubber gloves.

Environmental precautions

Prevent the material from spreading into the environment.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Sweep up and collect the material, then place in a chemical container.

Precautious measures to prevent secondary hazards

Wear dust control mask. Keep unnecessary people away, isolate hazard area and deny entry.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Do not breathe dust. Use respiratory protection.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Store in a cool and dry place. Containers should be tightly closed to prevent any contamination.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Control parameters

EU limit values: None

US limit values: SNUR is applied to this material under TSCA (CFR 721.2584, Mar 28, 2003). Maintain workplace airborne concentration at or below an 8-hour TWA of 1.0mg/m3.

ACGIH (2006)  Particulates (Insoluble) Not Otherwise Specified (PNOS)

Inhalable: 10 mg/m3 (TWA)

Respirable: 3 mg/m3 (TWA)

Exposure controls

Engineering controls: Ventilation equipment should be explosion-resistant if explosive concentrations of material are present. Use local exhaust ventilation to keep airborne concentration below exposure limit.

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection: Respirator with suitable dust filters

Hand protection: Rubber gloves

Eye protection: Chemical safety goggles

Skin protection: Chemical resistant clothing

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity: Not available

Chemical stability: Stable for water, light, atmosphere at normal temperature. Stable for heat to 100 degrees.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: Not available

Conditions to avoid: Avoid heat, flames, sparks and other sources of ignition.

Incompatible materials: not available

Hazardous decomposition products: CO, CO2 and NOX

Disposal considerations

Disposal must be in accordance with current national and local regulations. Chemical residues generally count as special waste. General EU requirements are given in Directive 2008/98/EC.

The product should be neutralized before disposal.

Packaging may contain residues of the product and should be treated accordingly. Do not dump this material into sewers, on the ground, or into any body of water.
