Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Additional information

Appearance

The test item was observed to be a white solid during performance of GLP guideline studies.

Melting point

The melting temperature of the test item was determined by differential scanning calorimetry to be over the range 20.6°C to 30.3°C (294 to 303 K) (OECD 102 and EU Method A.1).

Boiling point

The test item was determined to boil at 336 ± 1°C (609± 1 K) at 102 kPa (OECD 103 and EU Method A.2).

Relative density

The density of the test item was determined to be 962 kg/m3 at 21.2 ± 0.5°C with a relative density of 0.962 (OECD 109 and EU Method A.3).

Granulometry

Granulometry has not been investigated because the test item has been demonstrated to have a melting point in the range 20.6 °C to 30.3 °C. This means that particle size influencing toxicological profile is irrelevant because the substance is on the border between the solid and liquid state at ambient temperature. Furthermore, the determined vapour pressure of 4.8E-03 Pa at 25 °C indicates that exposure of humans to the test item via the inhalation route is of negligible concern.

Vapour pressure

The Vapour Pressure of the test item has been determined to be 4.8E-03 Pa at 25°C (298K) and 0.71 Pa at 80°C (353K) with no decomposition being observed (OECD 104 and EU Method A.4).

Octanol-water partition coefficient

The partition coefficient of the test item was determined to be 4.55 x 10E08 with a log10 Pow of 8.66 (OECD 117 and EU Method A.8).6.

Water solubility

The water solubility of the test item was determined to be less than 1.14 x 10E-05 g/L of solution at 20.0 ± 0.5°C (OECD 105 and EU Method A.6).

Surface tension

Determination of surface tension is not required because water solubility of the test item has been shown to be 1.14E-05 g/L at 20.0 ± 0.5 °C.

Flash point

The flash point of the test material was determined to be 176 ± 2 °C (EU Method A.9).

Autoflammability

The test item was determined to have an auto-ignition temperature of 226 ± 5 °C (EU Method A.15).

Flammability

The test item has been demonstrated to have a flash point of 176 ± 2 °C and it is considered unnecessary to investigate flammability because the substance is on the border between the solid and liquid state at ambient temperature.

Explosiveness

In accordance with column 2 section 7.11 of REACH Annex VII, testing for explosive properties was not conducted. Based on a consideration of the known chemical composition of the substance, there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the substance.

Oxidising properties

In accordance with column 2 section 7.13 of REACH Annex VII, testing for oxidising properties was not conducted. Based on a consideration of the known chemical composition of the substance, there are no functional groups or other structural alerts present to indicate this substance would promote oxidation.
