Additional information

Two fish studies are available for Methyl Isopropyl Ketone (MIPK). The first study was a pre-GLP study conducted as a limit test at a nominal 100 mg/L concentration under static, non-renewal conditions. In this study 50% mortality did not occur therefore the LC50 was reported as >100 mg/L. Due to concerns for volatility of the test substance, a recent OECD 203 study was conducted using a flow-through system with multiple concentrations up to 100 mg/L nominal. Some losses of the test substance occured during the study and the mean measured concentration for the highest exposure was 68 mg/L. No mortality was observed in this study therefore the NOEC was 68 mg/L and the LC50 was > 68 mg/L, the highest concentration tested. Based upon a weight of evidence from these two studies it is believed that the LC50 for fish is ≥ 100 mg/L.
