Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure Limit Values

Trifluoroacetyl chloride

- SAEL (Solvay Acceptable Exposure Limit) 2015: 0.3 ppm (Ceiling Limit Value)

- US. ACGIH Threshold Limit Values: none established

Exposure controls

- Use only with adequate ventilation and in closed system

- Apply technical measures to comply with the occupational exposure limits.

- Refer to protective measures listed below

Occupational exposure controls

Respiratory protection

- In the case of vapour formation use respirator with an approved filter.

- Recommended Filter type: ABEK

- Self-contained breathing apparatus in medium confinement/insufficient oxygen/in case of large uncontrolled emissions/in all circumstances when the mask and cartridge do not give adequate protection.

- Use only respiratory protection that conforms to international/ national standards.

Hand protection

- Take note of the information given by the producer concerning permeability and break through times, and of special workplace conditions (mechanical strain, duration of contact).

- Protective gloves - impervious chemical resistant: Neoprene, fluoroelastomers

Eye protection

- Face-shield

- Chemical resistant goggles must be worn.

Skin and body protection

- Chemical resistant coverall

- Boots, Neoprene

Hygiene measures

- Gloves, overalls and boots have to be double layered (protection against cold temperature)

- Ensure that eye wash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location

- Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

- Continuous monitoring system is installed to measure  concentrations at the workplace, using alarm levels and evacuation procedures

Environmental exposure controls

- Dispose of rinse water in accordance with local and national regulations.
