Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The discrepancies between the two reported vapour pressure values for potassium gluconate is believed to be due to the fact that the boiling point is predicted to be much higher than the decomposition temperature of potassium gluconate. However, despite the large numerical difference between the two calculated vapour pressures, the low vapour pressure values indicate that the substance is not volatile.

Additional information

The vapour pressure of potassium gluconate was calculated in a study report by unspecified authors (2010) conducted in compliance with the OECD Guideline 104 using the Modified Watson Correlation method. The calculated vapour pressure of potassium gluconate from a decomposition temperature of 180ºC was reported to be 0.835 hPa at 25ºC or 8.35 Pa at 298.15K. The information regarding the vapour pressure of potassium gluconate also was calculated using the Estimation Programs Interface (EPI) SuiteTM United States Environmental Protection Agency MPBPVP Program (v1.43), and was predicted to be 9.63E-16 Pa at 25ºC.
