There is no study on bioaccumulation for citronellyl acetate available. Based on a calculated BCF (BCF Program v2.14, EPIWIN) the criteria for a B substance are far not met (BCFcal. = 648.2 < 2000). Furthermore, the test substance is readily biodegradable. Readily biodegradable substances are eliminated very quickly from the environment which reduces the amount and likelyhood of a relevant uptake into the organism. Furthermore, biodegradable substance generally have a higher probability of being metabolized rapidly in exposed organisms. Thus, concentration of the substance in aquatic organisms is assumed to be low and if incorporated, a high metablisation will lead to an excretion of the substance. Additionally, the substance has a high Henry’s Law Constant and thus will evaporate rapidly into the atmosphere from surface waters. Once in the atmosphere, the substance will be degraded quickly by photochemical processes. This, like the readily biodegradability, will greatly reduce the bioavailability of the substance in the aquatic compartment.

Conclusively, the rapid biotic and abiotic degradation processes as well as exspected high metabolismn rates greatly reduce the likelihood of bioaccumulation.
