Description of key information
The 96 hour acute toxicity of sodium formate to two fish species, rainbow trout and fathead minnow was >1000 mg/L.
Two acute toxicity studies withPimephales promelasandOncorhynchus mykisswere performed under GLP according to guideline EPA OTS 797.1400. Test item concentrations were analytically verified. In both studies the 96-h LC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (Hoechst Celanese, 1990).

Two acute toxicity studies with Pimephales promelas and Oncorhynchus mykiss were performed under GLP according to guideline EPA OTS 797.1400 with sodium formate. Test item concentrations were analytically verified. In both studies the 96-h LC50 was determined to be greater than 1000 mg/L (Hoechst Celanese, 1990).
