Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The environmental exposure assessment indicates no risk for the sediment compartment (all RCR < 1). Bis dimethyldithiocarbamate (CAS No. 137-30-4) biodegrades in the environment and is characterized by a low log Kow value of 1.65.

Experimental data for Ziram 76 WG are available. The chronic toxicity of the test item to sediment organisms was investigated according to OECD Guideline No. 219 using spiked water due to the low log Kow value of the substance. No effects on emergence rate or development were observed up to (and including) a concentration of 320 µg/L of the formulation Ziram 76 WG (242 µg a.i./L). According to the Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.7b: Endpoint specific guidance (2016) the OECD Guideline No. 219 was initially developed for pesticide specific exposure situations and is in principle not accepted for REACh purposes. Therefore, these data were used only as supporting information.

The aquatic toxicity studies did not identify invertebrates as the most sensitive trophic level.

Based on above described information no further toxicity study with sediment organisms is justified.
