Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In five reliable studies (3x RL 1, 2x RL 2) with different members of the DMA category, determined EC50 (3 h) values were between 13 mg/L (C12-18 DMA; RL 1) and 80 mg/L (C12-14 DMA; RL 2).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
13 mg/L

Additional information

Reliable (RL 1 for C10, C12-18, and C16-18 DMA; RL 2 for C12-14 and C16 DMA) Activated Sludge Respiration Inhibition tests were performed according to OECD 209 meeting the validity criteria of the OECD-guideline. RL 1 studies are GLP-compliant. The resultingEC50 (3 h) values were 32.6 mg/L for C10, 80 mg/L for C12-14, 40 mg/L for C16, 13 mg/L for C12-18 and 38 mg/L for C16-18 DMA. Further, three non-reliable studies (RL 3) are available reporting EC50 values between >1000 mg/L for C18 DMA and 27.3 mg/L for C12 DMA. In most studies, EC10 values could not be determined. No obvious relationship between chain length and toxicity exists.

Thus, the decisive value for derivation of a PNECSTP microorgfor the DMA category will be EC50 (3 h) determined with C12-18 DMA of 13 mg/L.
