Description of key information
A 3 hour activated sludge respiration inhibition test was carried out for Aldehyde C10 Decyclic Food Grade. The EC50 was found to be 70 mg/l and the NOEC was found to be 31.6 mg/l.

An activated sludge respiration inhibition test was carried out based on OECD 209 guidelines to assess the toxicity of Aldehyde C10 Decyclic Food Grade. Test concentrations were 0(control), 1, 3.16, 10, 31.6 and 100 mg/l. A reference substance, 3,5 -dichlorophenol was also used. Following 3 hours of exposure to the test substance the rate of oxygen consumption was measured using an O2electrode. No significant inhibition was seen at any test concentration except 100 mg/l. From the results obtained, a 3-hour EC50 of 70 mg/l was calculated. The NOEC was determined to be 31.6 mg/l.
