Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50_3h was determined to be higher than 1000 mg/L according to an OECD 209.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Respiration inhibition of activated sludge further to diacetone alcohol (DAA) exposure has been determined according to OECD Guideline 209 and GLP requirements (Gancet, 2012).

At the highest concentration tested (1000 mg/L) and 3h of exposure to the test item, no inhibition of the respiration rate was observed. Therefore, EC50_3h has been determined to be > 1000 mg/L. NOEC = 1000 mg/L

As supporting studies, toxicity tests has been performed in Pseudomonas putida (Bringmann and Kühn, 1977) in the protozoa Entosiphon sulcatum (Bringmann, 1978), in bacteriovorous ciliate protozoon Uronema parduzci (Bringmann and Kühn, 1979) and in the saprozoic flagellate protozoon Chilomonas paramaecium (Bringmann et al. 1980).

DAA has been found to have a very low toxicity to these microorganisms.
