Results

The thermograms of the DSC runs PN10412 and PN10436 show in the temperature range of 100 – 180 °C an exothermic effect was observed with an energy of approx. -90 J/g directly followed by an endothermic effect (boiling) in the temperature range of 180 – 250 °C. In the temperature range of 250 – 420 °C a further exothermic effect could be detected with an energy of approx. -160 J/g.

During the heating phase an endothermic effect (boiling) in the temperature range of 180 – 250 °C was observed. In the temperature range of 250 – 420 °C a further exothermic effect could be detected.

For the correction of the boiling temperature to standard pressure the test item was assigned to chemical group 3 (e.g. Aldehyde). A correction value φ = 5.15 was used for the temperature of 180 - 190 °C.

The lowest measured onset temperature is corrected to the standard pressure to be 186.57 °C and the highest onset temperature to be 187.67 °C. As the corrected onset temperatures in both tests deviate by less than 0.5 K from their mean value of 187.12 °C, the test item has a boiling point of 187 - 188 °C.

The verification of the exothermic effect in the DSC (100 – 180 °C) with the capillary method showed that the test item was unchanged until the boiling of the test item at approx. 190 °C.

Final Results

The test item has a boiling point of 187 - 188 °C corrected to normal atmospheric pressure (1013 hPa) as determined by differential scanning calorimetry according to Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.2. and OECD Test Guideline 103 (1995).

Conclusions:
A boiling point of 187 - 188 °C (at 1013 hPa) was determined for the test substance according to E.U. Method A.2.
