Description of key information

An experimental study which investigated the acute toxicity of pentaerythritol to Daphnia magnas howed no immobility of organisms in 1000 mg/L exposure concentrations of the test substance throughout the 24 hour exposure period. The 24 hour EC50 for D. magna exposed to pentaerythritol was therefore concluded to be >1000 mg/L (the highest nominal exposure concentration tested), therefore the corresponding no-observed effect concentration (NOEC) was 1000 mg/L (Fukuoka, 1993).
