Additional information

The physical/chemical properties of the tetraethylene glycol substance have been measured or reported from reliable sources, using test material of known identity and purity in most cases. The substance exhibits a low melt/freeze point of -9.4 °C and a low vapor pressure of 0.0015 Pa at 25 °C. The substance is miscible with water, which is consistent with the estimated log Kow value of -2.02. The substance is slightly more dense than water (d = 1.127 g/cm3 at 20 °C), which indicates it would tend to sink in water before becoming fully dissolved therein. The substance is considered as non-flammable, and is not reactive with water or other organic matterial such that spontaneous combustion or evolution of flammable or explosive gases will not occur. This "neutral" organic substance does not possess ionizable functional groups, and is resistant to most modes of degradation under storage conditions.
