Description of key information

With high probability 1,3,5-trioxane is not acute harmful to fish.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For 1,3,5-trioxane, several studies on toxicity to fish are reported. Three different fish species including a marine species have been tested. The results indicates that trioxane is of low acute toxicity to fish. For instance, in a static GLP study using Leuciscus idus as test species a LC50 (96 h) of approx. 4000 mg/L and a NOEC (96 h) of 2150 mg/L were determined. In a non GLP and non-guideline marine study with Cyprinodon variegatus a LC50 (96 h) of 16350 mg/L was reported.
