First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures
Remove contaminated clothing.
If inhaled:
Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air.
On skin contact:
Wash thoroughly with soap and water.
On contact with eyes:
Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.
On ingestion:
Rinse mouth immediately and then drink plenty of water, induce vomiting, seek medical attention.

Symptoms: No significant reaction of the human body to the product known.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed
Treatment: Symptomatic treatment (decontamination, vital functions).

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling
Ensure thorough ventilation of stores and work areas. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. When using do not eat, drink or smoke. Protect from direct sunlight. Sealed containers should be protected against heat as this results in pressure build-up.
Protection against fire and explosion:
Prevent electrostatic charge - sources of ignition should be kept well clear - fire extinguishers should be kept handy. If exposed to fire, keep containers cool by spraying with water.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Segregate from acids and acid forming substances.

Exposure controls
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection:
Wear respiratory protection if ventilation is inadequate. Consider the risk management measures as outlined in the exposure scenario.
Hand protection:
Suitable chemical resistant safety gloves (EN 374) also with prolonged, direct contact
(Recommended: Protective index 6, corresponding > 480 minutes of permeation time according to EN 374): E.g. nitrile rubber (0.4 mm), chloroprene rubber (0.5 mm), butyl rubber (0.7 mm) etc.
Supplementary note: The specifications are based on tests, literature data and information of glove manufacturers or are derived from similar substances by analogy. Due to many conditions (e.g. temperature) it must be considered, that the practical usage of a chemical-protective glove in practice may be much shorter than the permeation time determined through testing.
Eye protection:
Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)
Body protection:
No body protection required if used for intended purpose and satisfying generally accepted industrial hygiene rules.

General safety and hygiene measures
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wearing of closed work clothing is required additionally to the stated personal protection equipment. When using, do not eat, drink or smoke. Hands and/or face should be washed before breaks and at the end of the shift. Gloves must be inspected regularly and prior to each use. Replace if necessary (e.g. pinhole leaks). Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Store work clothing separately.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity
When heated can give off ignitable vapours.
Corrosion to metals: Corrosive effects to metal are not anticipated.
Formation of flammable gases:
Remarks: Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

Chemical stability
The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated. The product is stabilized against spontaneous polymerization prior to despatch.

Possibility of hazardous reactions
The product can polymerize if the shelf life or storage temperature are greatly exceeded. Reacts with Lewis acids. Reacts with peroxides. Polymerization occurs with acids and acid forming substances. Heat develops during polymerization. With unstabilised product, spontaneous polymerisation may occur e.g. through ambient heat. The reaction without heat removal may lead to temperatures above 250°C. Risk of spontaneous polymerization when heated or in the presence of UV radiation. Vapours may form ignitable mixture with air.

Conditions to avoid
Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame. Avoid heat. Avoid UV-light and other radiation with high energy.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods
Incinerate in suitable incineration plant, observing local authority regulations.
