Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of Di-n-butylfumarate was tested in the fresh water fish, Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio),under semi-static conditions.

Based on the results of the solubility test, the test was carried out up to a maximum of 5 mg/L (concentration equal to the limit of solubility as per OECD 203).

The fish fasted for 24 hours were exposed to a series of nominal concentrations of 0.3125, 0.625, 1.25, 2.5 and 5 mg/L (factor of 2) of
Di-n-butylfumarate along with a negative and vehicle control in reconstituted water and observed for toxic signs and mortality for 96 hours.

At the end of treatment period (96 hours), there was no mortality in the negative control, vehicle control and at 3.125 and 0.625 mg/L. At 1.25, 2.5 and 5 mg/L, the observed mortalities were 30, 80 and 100 %, respectively. Fish were normal with no sub-lethal effects in the negative control, vehicle control and at 0.3125 mg/L. Sub-lethal effects were observed in all other tested concentrations.

The LC50value for Di-n-butylfumarate at 96 hours was 0.10 mg/L based on measured concentrations with fiducial limits at 95 % being 0.07 and 0.14 mg/L.
