Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Determination of the potential for bioaccumulation follows Guidance on Information Requirements and Chemical Safety Assessment Chapter R.16: Environmental Exposure Estimation (ECHA, 2012). Chapter R.16 and REACH Annex IX states that there may be bioaccumulation potential if log Kow is >3. Experimentally measured log Kow for ASA Category substances range between -0.96 to 0.41. The likelihood of bioaccumulation is very low and the requirement for further testing is waived.

The substance is not bioaccumulative.

The BCF value has been estimated with BCFBAF v3.01 and for all substances the Log BCF from regression-based method = 0.500 (BCF = 3.162 L/kg wet-wt). This value has been use for the Chemical safety assessment

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One study investigated bioaccumulation of PTSA, whose ring was evenly labelled with 14C, in guppies ( Poecilla reticulata) under semistatic conditions. The fish were exposed in aerated spring water which was renewed each day. During the course of 9 days exposure, at an initial PTSA concentration of 2.91 +/- 0.07 ug/l and a temperature of 22 -23 °C, the absorbtion factor (the ratio of measured radioactivity in the fish to that in the water) remained under 1.
