Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The acute toxicity of 4-Hydroxydiphenylamine the main hydrolysis product of IPPD to Daphnia magna was investigated in a static test according to EC No 440/2008, Method C.2 'Acute toxicity for Daphnia' (2008) which is equivalent to OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 202 'Daphnia sp., Acute Immobilisation Test (adopted April 13, 2004). After 48 hours of exposure an EC50 of 0.69 mg/L (nominal) was determined (Currenta, 2010).
A second key study performed with the parent substance IPPD (Duslo 2007) resulted in an EC50 of 0.98 mg/L.

Additional information

IPPD hydrolysis rapidly with a half- life of 3.9 hours under conditions relevant for the environment. In this case the REACH guidance document R7 allows the choice of performing the ecotox study either with the parent compound or with the hydrolysis product. In the current case studies for both, parent compound and hydrolysis product are available.
