Description of key information

The acute oral LD50 in rats is between 1100 and 1450 mg/kg bw  and the acute dermal LD50 in rabbits is  mg/kg bw.approximately 3000 mg/kg bw.

Additional information

The acute oral LD50 in rats is between 1100 and 1450 mg/kg bw. 3-Cyanopyridine as tested in male rabbits has an acute dermal LD50 of approximately 2.0 gm/kg, and an acute dermal LD50 of between 2.0 gm/kg and 4.0 gm/kg for female rabbits. The consensus value is 3000 mg/kg.

Justification for classification or non-classification

An acute oral LD50 between 1100 and 1450 mg/kg bw places this substance in oral Category IV according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008. As the acute dermal LD50 is over 2000 mg/kg bw, it is not classified.
