Description of key information

Benzonitrile was tested at a concentration of 2% in petrolatum and produced no sensitisation reactions. The material was re-tested (same concentration) in mixed panel producing no sensitisation reactions. Based on the available data it isnot possible to evaluate the reliability of this study report.

A maximization test in human volunteers (Epstein, 1977) did not cause sensitisation reactions (Section 7.10.4).
