Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis/Phototransformation:

Allyl methacrylate will be rapidly degraded with a calculated half life of < 4 hours when exposed to the atmosphere. The substance is stable in water under neutral or acidic conditions but hydrolyses slowly at alkaline conditions (pH >9).

Biodegradation:

Allyl methacrylate is readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria. Comparable degradation rates are expected for biodegradation in surface water and soil.

Bioaccumulation:

Based on a calculated BCF of 12.18 L/kg (log BCF 1.09) and a log Pow of 2.12 significant bioaccumulation of allyl methacrylate is not expected (BCFBAF Program (v3.00)).

Transport and distribution:

According to a calculated log Koc of 2.03 allyl methacrylate has a very low potential to adsorb to soil and suspended particles in water (PCKOCWIN v1.66).

The evaporation potential of allyl methacrylate was calculated using SRC HENRYWIN v3.10. The calculated Henry's law constant of 19.3 at 25 °C indicates that the substance will slowly evaporate from water surfaces into the atmosphere.
