Description of key information

Regarding results obtained for the mixed TDA and 2,4-TDA. It is necessary to make distinction between these two susbtances to evaluate the acute
toxicity effects.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

For 2,4 -TDA, only 2 studies from same author and performed for acute oral toxicity on rats males and females were validity 2 and chosen as key studies. The LD50 were 136 mg/kg bw for males and 73 mg/kg bw for females.

No data were available for dermal and acute inhalation for 2,4 -TDA.

European Union Risk Assessment Report, 28.05.2008: "A dermal LD50 value of 1200 mg/kg bw was determined for rats using „a standardized method“ with 10 rats per dose (24 hours application with water as vehicle, no further information)."

Justification for classification or non-classification

Classification according to Annex I of the directive 67/548/EEC - 26. on the basis of acute toxicity:

T Toxic, R 20/21 Harmful by inhalation and in contact with skin. R 25 Toxic if swallowed

By CLP, Acute Cat 3, Danger. Toxic if swallowed.

Acute cat 4. Warning. Harmful in contact with skin. Harmful if inhaled.
