Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Not expected as harmful/toxic for aquatic plants and cyanobacteria.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

An EC50 value of 220 mg/l (no further details) and concerning the structural analogous acetophenone can be retrieved from secondary sources (Nendza and Wenzel, 2006).

The potential toxicity has been assessed using estimation tools and taken into account the information on structural analogues. The EC50 for propiophenone has been estimated in the range of 10-100 mg/l; however the evaluation of analogues, for which experimental/literature data are available, showed that, in most of the cases, the estimated values resulted to be higher thanthose retrieved from experimental/literature sources.

Based on the available information and considering the worst case, the EC50 of propiophenone can be considered in the range of 1-10 mg/l and the NOEC higher than 1 mg/l.
