Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Two report/publications are used to provide weight of evidence information with results ranging between 80°C and 94°C. The lowest figure has been used as the key value for the CSA

Additional information

Two reports/publications cite flash points of 80°C (Sorbe, 1984) and 94°C (Hommel, 1987). The lowest figure has been used as the key value for the CSA.

Although precise details of the test methods used are not quoted in either report, the results are considered consistent enough with each other to be considered suitable for use as part of the weight of evidence used for this endpoint. It is recognised however, that in cases of lower purity TEL (<98% wt), lower flash point values are possible due to the higher ethyl chloride (raw material) concentrations in the substance as an impurity.

Further work for a study summary would require sophisticated, advanced and non-routine handling of test samples and it could arise in hazardous testing conditions
