Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The Henry's Law Constant for ethanethiol has been calculated to be 544 Pa.m3/mol at 25°C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The equation for calculating the Henry's Law Constant is indicated in REACH Technical Guidance Chapter R.16 (ECHA, 2012) (Equation R.16-10) and is therefore considered an appropriate technique.

The calculated Henry’s Law Constant at 25°C is 544 Pa.m3/mol

This result indicates that ethanethiol has the potential to volatilise rapidly from surface water.
