L-leucine was determined to be readily biodegradable based on read-across from a recent GLP and OECD guideline study on L-valine, in combination with an older determination of the biodegradation potential of L-leucine according to the Offhaus method.

Hydrolysis is not a relevant pathway due to the lack of hydrolysable groups.

Bioaccumulation of L-leucine can be excluded based on its low log Kow of -1.52.

Likewise, from this low log Kow value, a low tendency to bind to soil can be predicted.
