Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is very soluble, with pH dependency. The key value is given for neutral (or basic) pH. In acidic medium (pH 4), saturation could not be achieved.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
264 g/L
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

An experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available.

The substance being ionisable, determinations were conducted in buffers at different pH, and not in pure water, which is a deviation to the guideline. However, this providing additional information of scientific interest, it was considered as acceptable. Results were >1384 g/L, 572, 264 and 261 g/L, respectively at pH 4.0, 4.8, 7.0 and 10.0. Considering the substance is a primary amine, it exists mainly under its non-ionised form -NH2, at pH at least 2 units above its pKa of ca 4.1. The trend confirms that the higher solubility corresponds to the partially ionised form in acidic medium. Results at pH 7.0 and 10.0 are identical; the value as pH 7.0 is chosen as key data, as more environmentally relevant than pH 10, and to be consistent with the definition of logKow presented under IUCLID section 4.7.
