Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance has low potential for bioaccumulation, according to Regulation (EC) No.1272/2008 (CLP) criteria for classification in aquatic chronic toxicity hazard class (log Kow <4).

It should also be of no concern for PBT assessment.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Log Kow (Log Pow):
-0.77
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

An experimental study, conducted according to a recognized OECD/EC method and under GLP, is available. Despite major deviation to the guideline on maximum phases concentrations, reliability was considered as acceptable, and the magnitude of order is sufficient for purpose, with margin of safety regarding CLP and PBT assessment.

The substance being ionisable, determinations were conducted at different pH. Results (as log) were -0.93, -0.77 and -0.80, respectively at pH 4.5, 7.1 and 9.9. Considering the substance is a primary amine, it exists mainly under its non-ionised form -NH2, which is the relevant form for the definition of logKow, at pH at least 2 units above its pKa of ca 4.1. Due to the deviation, results at pH 7.1 and 9.9 are regarded as equivalent, and the lower log Kow value is chosen as key data, as considered to be a worst-case. A lower partition coefficient, expressed as logD, at acidic pH is consistent with the partially ionised form, more soluble in water.
