Description of key information

Hydrolysis is not expected under environmentally relevant conditions (pH 5 - 9).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Primary and secondary ethers are relatively inert to most reagents, including strong bases, reducing agents, and weak acids (Streitwieser A. et al, Introduction to Organic Chemistry, 4th Ed., Macmillan, 1992, p233). They do react with hot concentrated strong acids such as HBr and HI; however, these conditions are not environmentally relevant. Hydrolysis is not expected under relevant environmental conditions.
