A study was conducted to determine the toxicity of the substance to terrestrial plants according to OECD Guideline 208. Seedling emergence and seedling growth were assessed in three plant species, wheat (Triticum aestivum), dwarf bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) and cabbage (Brassica oleracea var. capitata). After initial range finding tests, definitive tests were conducted with nominal test concentrations of 0, 12.3, 37.0, 111, 333 and 1000 mg/kg dry soil (equivalent to 0, 10, 30, 90, 270 and 812 mg a.i./kg dry soil) for dwarf bean and cabbage and at nominal concentrations of 0, 62.5, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg dry soil (equivalent to 0, 51, 101, 203, 406 and 812 mg a.i./kg dry soil) for wheat. Definitive tests were performed using 5 replicate vessels per treatment group, each sown with 4 seeds. Observations on emergence, visual phytotoxicity and growth were recorded and the EC50, LOEC and NOEC were determined for each of the measured parameters. Seedlings were harvested 16 days after 50% control emergence was recorded, at which time seedling height, fresh weight and dry weight were measured. Under the study conditions, the lowest EC50 and NOEC were determined to be 200 and 30 mg a.i./kg dry soil respectively for cabbage on the basis of growth (seedling dry weight) (Sharples, 2009).
