Short-term toxicity to fish:
Various studies for the target chemical 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt and read across study were reviewed to summarize the following information:
96 hrs aquatic toxicity study (SSS QSAR prediction model, 2016) was conducted to assess toxic effects of the test compound 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt and the results were predicted. The study was based on the effects of the test compound on the fish in a static fresh water system. The predicted data suggests the lethal concentration (LC50) for the test compound 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt was estimated to be 57.029(CAS no 55947-46-1) 315948 mg/L on the basis of mortality.
But the partition coefficient - Kow for the chemical was -2.16 which is less than criteria i.e 4 therefore the chemical was considered as not classified as per CLP regulations.
Other predicted model for target chemical indicate that the lethal concentration (LC50) for the test compound2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt was estimated to be 5500000 mg/l.
And read across substance sodium 2–methylprop–2–ene–1–sulphonate (1561-92-8) indicate that the during experiment the toxicity to fish LC0 value determined to be >= 100 mg/l on the basis of mortality effect.( IUCLID dataset; EUROPEAN COMMISSION European Chemicals Bureau,2000)
Same source for other read across Sodium vinylsulfonate (Cas no. 3039-83-6) shows the LC0 value to be > 500 mg/l on the basis of mortality effect.
Thus based on the various predicted and experimental studies the test substance 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt (CAS no 55947-46-1) consider to be non toxic to fish.
Short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates:
Various predicted studies for the target chemical 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt and read across were reviewed to summarize the following information:

The study was based on the effects of the test compound on Daphnia magna in a static fresh water system. The predicted data suggests the effective concentration (EC50) for the test compound2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium saltwas estimated to be 181.6549 mg/l on the basis of mobility.
The short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was determined (P. Lundahl and R. Cabridenc,Water Research Vol. 12. pp. 25 to 30. 1978) to for 24 hrs as 6900 mg/l on the basis of 50% concentration immobilizing for read across substance Sodium butane-1-sulphonate. Concentration immobilizing 50% was determined by the technique of the A.F.N.O.R. for Daphnia magna.
The short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates (Freeman,L.,Sewage Ind. Wastes 25(11): 1331-1335,1953) was study for 48 hrs for read across substance Sodium butane-1-sulphonate. As lake water was used as media. After experiment it was determined that the short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was determined to for 48 hrs as 8000 mg/l on the basis of mobility.
On the basis of results of various predictions, the chemical2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium saltcan be considered as not likely to be toxic to aquatic invertebrates at environmentally relevant concentrations and can be classified as non- hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation.
Toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria

The predicted data suggests the effective concentration (EC50) for the test compound 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt was estimated to be 322000 mg/l. Based on the result the chemical was considered as not classified to toxicity to algae according to the CLP regulations.

As the log Kow for the chemical was -2.17, on the basis of this the chemical was considered as not classified for toxicity to algae as per CLP regulations.
Toxicity to algae (Scenedesmus subspicatus) was determined ( IUCLID datset (EUROPEAN COMMISSION European Chemicals Bureau,2000 )) using Algal inhibition test (GLP Lab) for 72 hrs. After experiment the toxicity to algae EC50 value and NOEC value were determined to be >1000 and >=1000 mg/l for 2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt on the basis of growth rate.
On the basis of results of various predictions and read across study, the chemical2-Propyne-1-sulfonic acid, sodium salt can be considered as not likely to be toxic to algae at environmentally relevant concentrations and can be classified as non- hazardous as per the criteria of CLP regulation
