The general assessment on bioaccumulation is only based on aquatic compartment, because a study on terrestrial bioaccumulation is not required for this tonnage band.

A study with high reliability is available for the substance, showing a low bioaccumulation potential (lower than 80 L/Kg).

According to Annex XIII of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 and to the Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment Chapter R.11 (PBT Assessment, May 2008), test substance does not fulfil the criterion “bioaccumulative (B)” or “very bioaccumulative (vB)”, since the BCF is below 2000 and 5000, respectively.

Additionally, data on aquatic bioaccumulation could even be waived in accordance with column 2 of REACH (Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006) Annex IX, stating that the bioaccumulation in aquatic species study (required in section 9.3.2) does not need to be conducted as direct and indirect exposure of the aquatic compartment is unlikely. The substance is a monomer manufactured and used industrially in the production of polymers, plastics (thermoplastics), and polymerization processes. At the end of these processes, the monomer is completely transformed into the polymeric matrix and therefore no exposure to the environment is expected.

 

According to OECD Guideline 121 (Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC)), the adsorption coefficient of 3,3,4,4,5,5,6,6,7,7,8,8,8-Tridecafluorooctyl acrylate

on soil and sewage sludge is estimated as log Koc of 4.181.
