According to a Mackay Level I model calculation, the main target compartments for 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid will be sediment (36.2 %), soil (35.8 %) and water (27.7 %). The proportions will differ for the individual constituents due to their differing individual properties. The calculated Henry’s Law constant of 2.0E-6 Pa m³/mol at 20 °C indicates very low volatility of 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid from surface waters. With adsorption coefficients ranging from log Koc = 2.09 to log Koc = 3.53, significant sorption to soil and sediment is expected for part of the constituents.

 

The QSAR calculated rate constant for the OH sensitized photodegradation of 2,3-Epoxypropyl neodecanoate, oligomeric reaction products with toluene-4-sulfonic acid (surrogate: 2-hydroxy-3-[[(4-methylphenyl)sulphonyl]oxy]propyl tert-decanoate) is approximately 18.2179E-12 cm3/(molecule * s). At 500,000 OH radicals / cm3 (typical for central), this corresponds to a half-life of 21 hours. No unequivocal hydrolysis but some interconversion of constituents was observed in studies at pH levels from 4 to 9. Ready biodegradation was also not observed.
