Results and discussion

Any other information on results incl. tables

The test substance TCR-589 (N-MeFBSEA monomer) saturated in Duluth bioactive algae water and the DI water solutions showed the presence of trace levels of the same two classes of C4 normal chain tertiary fluorochemical (FC) sulfonamide materials, which was believed to be two liquid crystalline FC phases.

Therefore, the concentrations of TCR in the algae water and in the DI water were expressed as the sum of the two crystalline phases.

TCR-589 concentration was higher in DI water (0.0042%) than in Duluth algae water (0.0027%); addition of co-solvent reduced the concentration of TCR-589 in algae water; raising temperature from room temperature to 55-60 °C did not affect the concentration of TCR-589 in DI water.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
TCR-589 concentration was higher in DI water (0.0042%) than in Duluth algae water (0.0027%).
Executive summary:

The behavior and solubility of N-MeFBSEA monomer (TCR-589) in bioactive algae water and in DI water were studied using 19F-NMR and 1H-NMR spectrometers.

The test substance TCR-589 (N-MeFBSEA monomer) was saturated in Duluth bioactive algae water and the DI water solutions at room temperature (~ 22-23 °C). Additional studies of effects of co-solvent and temperature were also conducted. Two phases of liquid crystalline FC were observed.

This is a supporting study for N-MeFBSEA monomer in bioactive water, which may aid in understanding test results for environmental toxicology.
