Fire-fighting measures

Fire Fighting Equipment/Instructions:Move containers from fire area if you can do it without risk. Do not scatter spilled material with high pressure water streams. Withdraw immediately in case of rising sound from venting safety devices or any discolouration of tanks due to fire. ALWAYS stay away from tanks engulfed in flame. If tank, rai car or tank truck is involved in a fir, ISOLATE for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions; also consider initial evacuation for 800 meters (1/2 mile) in all directions. Suitable Extinguishing Media:Small Fires: Dry Chemical, foam, water fog.Large Fires: Water spray mist or foamExtinguishing Media Which Must Not Be Used for Safety Reasons:High volume water jet.Unusual Fire & Explosion Hazards:May burn, but does not ignite readily.Specific Hazards:Irritating, corrosive and/or toxic gases or fumes will be released during a fire.Special Protective Equipment For Fire-FightersIn the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions:Do not touch damaged containers or spilled material unless wearing appropriate protective clothing. Ventilate closed spaces before entering.  Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.Environmental Precautions:Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.  Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.Containment Procedures:Stop the flow of material, if this is without risk. Do not allow product to enter sewer or waterways. Methods for Cleaning Up:Prevent product from entering drains. Do not allow material to contaminate ground water system. Absorb with earth, sand or other non-combustible material and transfer to containers for later disposal. Dike far ahead of liquid spill for later disposal

Handling and storage

Handling:Handle and open container with care. Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray. Do not get this material in contact with skin or eyes.  Do not empty into drains.
