- Conclusions:
- The test substance Wasox-MMAC2 has no explosive properties with regard to shock and thermal stress.
- Executive summary:
A study was to determine the possible explosive properties of the test substance Wasox-MMAC2 was performed according to EU Method A.14, test for thermal sensitivity (KOENEN steel tube test) and test for mechanical sensitivity with respect to shock (BAM: Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und Prüfung, Berlin) fall hammer test. No positive results to shock and thermal stress was observed. The test substance Wasox-MMAC2 was determined to be non-explosive.
Reference
Mechanical sensitivity (shock); BAM fall hammer test:
No signs of ignition or explosion were observed with the negative reference substance. In none of the 6 tests any sign of ignition er explosion was seen with the test substance. There were no flames, no sparks, no soot and no bang.
According to the guideline Wasox-MMAC2 does not have explosive properties with regard to shock sensitivity.
Thermal sensitivity; KOENEN steel tube test:
The results are shown in Table 1. No sign of explosion was detected in any of the tests.
"Wasox-MMAC2" therefore has no explosive properties with regard to thermal stress.
Description of key information
Key study: EU Method A.14 and GLP. The test substance Wasox-MMAC2 has no explosive properties with regard to shock and thermal stress.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Explosiveness:
- non explosive
Additional information
Key study: A study was to determine the possible explosive properties of the test substance Wasox-MMAC2 was performed according to EU Method A.14 (GLP study), test for thermal sensitivity (KOENEN steel tube test) and test for mechanical sensitivity with respect to shock (BAM: Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und Prüfung, Berlin) fall hammer test. No positive results to schock and thermal stress was observed. The test substance Wasox-MMAC2 was determined to be non-explosive.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the available information, the substance is not classified as explosive according to CLP Regulation (EC) no. 1272/2008.
