Environmental fate and pathways:
With 83% biodegradation after 28 days of incubation (OECD Guideline 301B), the 10-days windows is fulfilled. The registered substance is considered as readily biodegradable. This indicated that the registered substance undergoes a biodegradation and should be considered as non-persistent following the EU PBT/vPvB criteria.
Ecotoxicological information :
Reliable QSAR results are available to assess the aquatic toxicity of the registered substance, on aquatic invertebrates, algae for acute.
The QSAR predictions (iSafeRat models) have been validated to be compliant with the OECD recommendations for QSAR modeling (OECD, 2004) and predict the ecotoxicological values which would be expected when testing the substance under experimental conditions in a laboratory following OECD Guidelines. The ecotoxicological predictions were determined using validated QSAR models for the Mechanism of Action (MechoA) in question (MechoA 1.1, i.e. non-polar narcosis). QSAR models are based on validated data for training sets for which the concentrations of the test substance had been determined by chemical analyses over the test period.
According to these predictions :
- The acute 48-EC50 value for aquatic invertebrates, based on mobility, was determined to be 47 mg/L (95% CL: 41 -54mg/L);
- The acute 72h-ErC50 value for algae, based on growth rate, was determined to be 46 mg/L (95% CL: 40 - 54 mg/L);
Experimental studies are available to assess the aquatic toxicity of the registered substance, on fish.
To assess the short term toxicity of the registered substance to fish, one experimental key study (Guangdong, 2013) is available. The acute toxicity of the test item to zebra fish was conducted according to OECD 203 "Fish acute toxicity test". Under the test conditions, the 96 hour LC50 for test substance is 15.7 mg/l in zebra fish (Brachydanio rerio)
