Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
General advice:
Consult a physician. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.
If inhaled:
Move person into fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Consult a physician.
In case of skin contact:
Wash off with soap and plenty of water. Consult a physician. In case of eye contact. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician.
If swallowed:
Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. Rinse mouth with water. Consult a physician.
Fire-fighting measures
EXTINGUISHING MEDIA
Suitable extinguishing media:
Use foam.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:
Carbon oxides, Cobalt oxide
Advice for firefighters:
Wear self contained breathing apparatus for fire fighting if necessary.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:
Use personal protective equipment. Avoid dust formation. Ensure adequate ventilation. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Avoid breathing dust.
Environmental precautions:
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so. Do not let product enter drains.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:
Pick up and arrange disposal. Sweep up and shovel without creating dust, avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame). Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.
Handling and storage
Handling : wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Eating, drinking and smoking should be prohibited in areas where this material is handled, stored and processed. Do not get in eyes or on skin or clothing. Do not breathe dust. Do not ingest. Avoid the creation of dust when handling and avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame). Prevent dust accumulation. Wear appropriate respirator when ventilation is inadequate.
Keep in the original container or an approved alternative made from a compatible material, kept tightly closed when not in use. Store and use away from heat, sparks, open flame or any other ignition source. Electrical equipment and lighting should be protected to appropriate standards to prevent dust coming into contact with hot surfaces, sparks or other ignition sources. Take precautionary measures against electrostatic discharges. Empty containers retain product residue and can be hazardous. Do not reuse container. Provide ventilation and local exhaust ventilation at the workpost to avoid the accumulation of dust.
Do not release into the environment.Storage : Store away from direct sunlight in a dry, cool and well-ventilated area, away from incompatible materials. Eliminate all ignition sources. Separate from oxidizing materials. Keep container tightly closed and sealed until ready for use. Do not store in unlabelled containers. Use appropriate containment to avoid environmental contamination.
Store the waste or soiled rags in a sealed container (keep container for this use). Treat like waste.Packaging materials recommended : Use original container.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Recommended monitoring procedures : If this product contains compounds with some exposure limits, these limits must be controlled according to legislation requirements.
- Occupational exposure controls : Use only with adequate ventilation. Use suitable equipment to ensure exposure is below the exposure limits.
- Hygiene measures : A good personal hygiene is recommended: wash hands and front of the arms with soap and water at the end of the work and before eating, smoking or going to the toilet. Ensure that eyewash stations and safety showers are close to the workstation location.
- Respiratory protection : In case of insufficient ventilation,wear Half-Mask P3 respirator.
- Hand protection : Wear chemical-resistant protective gloves (nitrile gloves recommended).
- Eye protection : Safety glasses with lateral protection.
- Body protection : Wear protective clothing.
- Environmental exposure controls : Emissions from ventilation or work process equipment should be checked to ensure they comply with the requirements of environmental protection legislation.
Stability and reactivity
Stability : The product oxidizes with air and tends to lose its explosive properties.
Conditions to avoid : Avoid the creation of dust when handling and avoid all possible sources of ignition (spark or flame). Prevent dust accumulation.
Avoid release into the environment.
Materials to avoid : oxidizing materials ; oxidising agents.
Hazardous decomposition products : No decomposition products produced are dangerous under normal conditions of storage and use.
Disposal considerations
Avoid release into the environment.
