Description of key information

3,3'-(methylimino)bispropiononitrile is partly biodegradable after 28 days and still partly biodegradable after prolonged adaption (35 days).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

To assess the biodegradability of 3,3'-(methylimino)bispropiononitrile a test according to OECD guideline 301A was performed (BASF, report no. 97/0026/21/1, 1997). As inoculum non-adapted municipal sludge was used. After 28 days a DOC removal of 30 - 40% was measured, and after prolonged adaptation of 35 days a DOC removal of 40 - 50% was reached.

The available data indicate that 3,3'-(methylimino)bispropiononitrile is partly biodegradable.
