Validation:

The surface tension of the reference item hexane was determined on 2008-01-07 with 18.36 ± 0.01mN/m at a temperature range of 19.9 – 20.0 °C. This value is in the range of tolerance of ± 1mN/m acc. to the literature value of 18.42 ± 0.02mN/m at 20 °C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The surface tension of an aqueous solution of 90 % of the saturation solubility of Symrose was determined to be 30.68 ± 0.05 mN/m at a temperature of 19.9 °C. Due to the fact that the surface tension is < 60 mN/m, the test item has surface active properties.
