Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

A water solubility value of ca. 1400 g/l at 20°C and pH 6.9 was determined for the substance using an acceptable method. Although, the result is similar to the preliminary method of OECD 105 test guideline, the result of 1400 g/l at 20°C indicates that the substance is highly soluble in water and the error associated with the measurement is not expected to have significant effect in the chemical safety assessment of the substance. The result is therefore considered to be reliable and selected as key study. In other secondary sources to which reliability could be not be assigned, the substance was reported as very soluble in water (2.5E+05 mg/l).

In the environment, the substance is expected to dissociate to form citrate, iron and ammonia. Ammonium sulfate was reported to have a water solubility value of 764 g/l at 20°C in a peer-reviewed source (OECD 2004). Similarly, citric acid has a reported water solubility values of 576 - 771 g/l at 20°C (OECD 2001). Iron forms highly insoluble ferric hydroxide in water (see Section 5.1.2).
