Results and discussion

In vivo

Other effects:
Undiluted the test substance caused up to 7 hours a strong vascular dilatation and a diffuse edema. Reading at later timepoints revealed a slight vascular dilatation and a slight glassy edema.

Any other information on results incl. tables

For the undiluted test substance an irritation index of 1.29 was determined. for the 10%, 5%, and 1% solution in sesam oil an index of 1.0, 0.81, and 0.79 was found. Probably Draize scores were used, but this is not confirmed by the study report incl. raw data of the experiment.

Executive summary:

100 µl test substance was applied udiluted and as a 10%, 5% or 1% solution in sesam oil into the conjuctival sac of 6 rabbits each. Eyes were examinated after application of the test substance up to 7 days.

Undiluted the test substance caused up to 7 hours a strong vascular dilatation and a diffuse edema. Reading at later timepoints revealed a slight vascular dilatation and a slight glassy edema. Alpha,alpha,alpha-trifluoro-3-tolyl isocyanate was found to be irritating to eyes.
