Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Bacterial genemutaion and mammalian cell-line studies have bene performed. It has had several QSAR methods applied in an attempted to assess the potential for genetic toxicity in CAS 135-57-9.

Tests gave rise to negative results. In the read across studies shown, results tend towards a negative prediction.

While these results are favourable overall, it should be noted that some of the methods used are not entirely reliable since read across methods and QSARs in their early stages of development, however with the supporting test data it can be concluded that for this endpoint the material can be considered negative for genetic toxicity.

Short description of key information:

Test data along with QSAR studies and SAR and read across data have been considered for this endpoint.

Consideration of this data has led to the conclusion that 135-57-9 should not be considered as potentially genotoxic

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Taking into account all the data currently acquired through testing, data from QSARS and Read Across, it is concluded that sufficient data are available to consider 135-57-9 as being negative for genetic toxicity.
